The Department of Communication Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University will host an international conference on March 26-27, 2009 on the Shaw Campus of Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong. "Emerging Mode of Communication : Technology Enhanced Interaction" is the theme of the conference.

Although the impact of technology on communication studies has been unveiled and visualized for more than a decade it is treated only as a sub-area (e.g., computer-mediated communication) or one type of media (i.e., new media) in the field. The impact has not been truly incorporated in the curriculum and research.

The purpose of this conference is to organize the effort of scholars trained in different communication-related areas to explore the real impact of information technology on communication studies and to propose some new directions of communication research.
