History of the Three Options |
| The PRA option is the oldest in the Communication Studies Department, having been an option within the original Department of Communication. |
The ORGC (formerly Applied Communication Studies, or ACS) option was added in 1993 and the DGC option accepted its first intake of students in 1994. While the three options each have their own identity and distinctive approaches to the study of human communication, there is increasing synergy and integration across the options that allow students greater flexibility in designing a program of study that fits their aptitudes and interests.

Pioneering Program |
The Communication Studies Department is a pioneering program in Hong Kong. It is the first program to provide students with a broad and well-rounded view of the human communication process. The mission of the Communication Studies Department consists of teaching, conducting research, and providing forms of service to the University, the communication discipline, and the Hong Kong regional community. The Department's curriculum integrates theory and practice. Students learn communication theories, critically evaluate communication practices and situations, appraise and employ research methods, and engage in supervised educational experiences. We invite you to investigate the specialties through this website and contact us if you wish more detailed information. |
