Student Workshops
Each Option within the Department has its own specialized student workshop whose extracurricular activities support the goals of the regular option curriculum.

The Young Agent (TYA)

The workshop for the PRA curriculum is known as The Young Agency (TYA).

TYA is a non-credit-bearing practicum designed to function as a public relations and advertising organization; it is formed and managed by second and third year PRA students. The management staff is selected by the students and supervised by a PRA faculty member. Modeled on the structure of a typical advertising and public relations company, TYA also handles externally commissioned projects or assignments by lecturers.

This workshop allows students to gain practical experience by participating in the planning and execution of actual public relations and advertising programs. Students become familiar with the techniques of objective-setting, evaluation, research, and strategy-selection by way of a case-study approach and a campaign-planning approach to the Option content.

The Young Communicator (TYC)

The workshop for the ORGC curriculum is known as The Young Communicator (TYC). TYC is a non-credit-bearing practicum that provides students with the opportunity to integrate subject material from the course by engaging in practical communication activities. TYC is responsible for the ongoing development of a database of research about communication in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. Students in TYC also organize a series of academic and professional seminars throughout the academic year on a variety of current topics.

Finally, the organization reaches out to the University and Hong Kong community through communication service activities in organizational, interpersonal and intercultural contexts. In this regard, TYC plans and executes communication campaigns for profit and non-profit organizations.

The Digiforce

The workshop for the DGC curriculum is known as Digiforce.
Digiforce is a non-credit-bearing practicum that allows students to gain practical experience by participating in the planning presentation of digital graphic communication projects, events, and exhibitions within the University and for the general public.

Students organize at least one exhibition to promote the Option to the public in their second year. They also draw the plan, develop a work schedule, and organize a program for their graduation exhibition in the third year. By taking part in these activities, students can become familiar with the procedures and professional practices of the various digital graphic communication fields. The Digiforce committee is selected by the students and supervised by a DGC faculty member.
