Characteristics |
The Digital Graphics Communication curriculum at HKBU adopts a truly comprehensive "multiple media" approach to communication. Acknowledging the multiple dimensions of message design available to communicators using the digital domain, the DGC program teaches the basic concepts, theories, aesthetics and skills which underlie the domain of computer graphics and multimedia. It is a unique marriage between creativity and problem-solving aimed at the innovative expression of ideas through the use of new technologies. |
| |
After completing the Option, students should be capable of working in computer-aided graphic design, animation, and interactive multimedia design and production. The Option emphasizes a conceptual and integrated design communication approach that enables students to become designers who can solve both broad and specific communication design problems.
The Digital Graphics Communication Option is placed in the context of communication theory and multidisciplinary studies in order to provide a sound basis for professionalism and to promote inquiry that will stimulate research. By keeping students abreast of the latest technological developments and by offering major electives in the third year, it also aims to produce a diverse group of graduates who are at the forefront of the discipline and have cultural awareness and different combinations of practical skills. The Option also emphasizes Chinese graphics and applied arts in order to make it especially appropriate to the Hong Kong context.
