Curriculum Features
In order to accomplish its educational goals, the DGC Option has developed an ambitious and innovative curriculum grounded on the general theories and principles of effective communication that can be applied to generating creative visual communication and multimedia designs to help groups and organizations get their messages across in an interesting and engaging manner.
Because the concept of multimedia involves the integration of text, graphics, sound and motion to convey information-frequently in an interactive manner-the DGC Option offers subjects in such topics as typography and desktop publishing, creative digital imaging, 3-dimensional modeling and animation, design for the internet, and interactive multimedia. In addition to their core and DGC elective requirements, DGC students may take such subjects as Culture, Society, and the Media, Argumentation, Persuasion and Social Influence, and Psychology of communication to fulfill their Option Electives.
Together with professional skills subjects such as public speaking, basic photography, graphic communication, radio and TV production, and news writing, the DGC curriculum is a well-balanced combination of specific communication skills and the theories necessary for making informed choices about how and when to use various communication practices to accomplish practical goals in multimedia contexts.

In this way, the curriculum emphasizes the application of fundamental concepts, principles and theories to communication-based problem-solving in a variety of communication contexts. The DGC Option prepares students for a lifetime of opportunities to achieve their personal and professional goals through understanding and application of the principles of effective communication in the digital world.
