Organizational Communication is the fastest growing area in communication studies globally. The academic program of Organizational Communication (ORGC) today has undergone three major changes from its early form of Applied Communication Studies (ACS). The ACS program was established in 1993. In a move to catch up with the global dominant trend in communication studies, ACS was renamed Organizational Communication in 2003. As the demand for the convergence between academics and industry grows stronger, an overhaul of the old ACS curriculum with a replacement of core professional courses took placed in 2007. The new ORGC curriculum, a blend of solid ground theories and strong professional courses, was implemented in 2008. In a visit in 2011 by the Academic Council Panel composing of international experts in the field of communication, the current ORGC curriculum was lauded as “outstanding.” The undergraduate Organizational Communication curriculum at the School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University, measures up well against the likes in the discipline.
