Student Workshops

Each Option within the Department has its own specialized student workshop whose extracurricular activities support the goals of the regular Option curriculum. The workshop for the PRA curriculum is known as The Young Agency (TYA).

TYA is a non-credit-bearing practicum designed to function as a public relations and advertising organization; it is formed and managed by second and third year PRA students.

The management staff is selected by the students and supervised by a PRA faculty member. Modeled on the structure of a typical advertising and public relations company, TYA also handles externally commissioned projects or assignments by lecturers.

This workshop allows students to gain practical experience by participating in the planning and execution of actual public relations and advertising programs. Students become familiar with the techniques of objective-setting, evaluation, research, and strategy-selection by way of a case-study approach and a campaign-planning approach to the Option content.
